Munich/Berlin, 08/03/2017 – Finding the right connection via Google Maps – after plane, rail and local traffic, FlixBuses are being integrated into Google’s transit service. From now on the 120.000 daily FlixBus-connections will be accessible to every Google Maps user worldwide.
Google Transit is the route planner function in Google Maps that connects city maps with local transport and now also with the FlixBus network.
Cooperating with OpenGeo: FlixBus embraces Open Data
To ensure the highest possible data quality in third party applications, including meeting regulatory constraints and timezones, FlixBus collaborated with the Dutch foundation OpenGeo to develop a state of the art GTFS schedule and validated on it extensively with partners
For more transparency and the connection of different mobility concepts schedule data is available for the public. Google Transit offers an excellent opportunity to provide customers with this information in an easy manner and at all times.The GTFS data will, for example, also be available for bus station operators to feed their destination boards with information like destinations, departure- and arrival times or stopovers.
Together FlixBus and OpenGeo are currently working on going one step further. In the near future FlixBuses will be the very first long-distance buses with real-time information on its rides in Google Maps. Currently this service is already available in the FlixBus App.

FlixBus stands for smart and green mobility for every budget. Now the network is available for Google Maps users worldwide.

Green and smart mobility: Finding FlixBus connections in Google Maps route planner
The traveler chooses his/her point of departure and destination in Google Maps as well as the option “Public transport” and his/her preferred means of transport. When choosing the option “bus”, FlixBus connections will be displayed.
Daniel Krauss: “Google users can find the most important travel information on their FlixBus-Trip: Point and time of departure, travel time, stops during the route and the local connections at their destination. Google links directly to the FlixBus ticket shop.“
FlixBus Smartphone App for the optimal travel experience
With the free Smartphone-App for iOS, Android and Windows, FlixBus optimises the travel experience. The App provides extra services such as mobile ticketing and check-in, navigation to the bus stop and real-time route information via push notification.
FlixBus is expanding its network all over Europe. Recently the mobility provider announced domestic networks in Scandinavia and a further expansion to CEE countries for the year of 2017.
