Green and Smart Mobility to Experience the World
FlixMobility is a young mobility provider that has been changing the way millions of people travel in Europe since 2013 via its FlixBus brand. As a unique combination of tech-startup, e-commerce platform and transportation company, FlixBus quickly became Europe’s largest intercity bus network, helping over 100 million people reach their destinations. In 2018, FlixTrain was launched, expanding this service into the rail industry. Thanks to a user-friendly booking system and extensive daily route network, FlixMobility offers travelers the opportunity to experience the world, no matter their budget. Our green buses and long-distance trains comply with the highest safety and environmental standards, allowing us to offer a sustainable, convenient and comfortable alternative to private transportation.
The FlixTravel Experience: Our Road to Success
Our success can be attributed to the digitization of traditional bus travel. With technological advancements like our e-ticketing system, the FlixBus-App, free Wi-Fi on board, GPS Live Tracking and an automated Delay-Management System, FlixBus continues to revolutionize the bus travel industry. Through smart network planning and dynamic price management, we are able to provide our customers with the best offers possible. Our FlixBus network relies on close partnerships with small and medium-sized enterprises and often family-owned businesses – our regional bus partners – who are responsible for the green FlixBus fleet. For the operation of our long-distance FlixTrains, we cooperate with the most-successful private train operators in Europe. Through these partnerships, the innovation and start-up spirit of the FlixMobility brands meet with the long-standing experience of traditional industry.
From German Start-Up to Europe's No. 1
FlixMobility was founded as the start-up FlixBus by three young entrepreneurs in Munich who had the vision of making sustainable bus travel both comfortable and affordable. FlixBus was officially launched in 2013 after the deregulation of the bus market in Germany and quickly became the leading long-distance travel provider within the country.
In 2015, FlixBus began expanding internationally with long-distance networks in France, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands and Croatia, as well as cross-border regular services to Norway, Spain and England. Today, passengers from around the world can benefit from Europe’s largest long-distance bus service as well as new intermodal travel options. An international team of 1,000 employees in Munich, Berlin, Paris, Milan, Zagreb, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Aarhus, Prague, Budapest, Los Angeles, Bucharest, Madrid and Warsaw – as well as thousands of our partners’ bus drivers and train operators from all over Europe – stand behind the green mobility provider. Each of these individuals contribute to making FlixBus Europe’s leading mobility provider, every day. Do you have the drive and spirit to help us build the best mobility brand in Europe and beyond? André is in charge of the international operations and expansion. Back in 2009, together with Jochen, he discussed and brainstormed the opportunities that a deregulated market could bring. As a fan of alternative mobility concepts, he doesn’t own a car and cycles to the office.
Jochen is responsible for Corporate Development and Human Resources. Before founding FlixBus, he and André travelled the world as strategy consultants. During his studies he organized ski bus trips to the Alps, which was his first experience with the industry.
Daniel takes care of IT, Mobile and Software Development. During his studies he founded a successful IT start-up with his schoolmate André. He eventually sacrificed his long time job at Microsoft – and his car – to create Europe's largest long-distance bus provider.
