Entry requirements for the Schengen area

Starting October 12, 2025, entry into the Schengen area will be governed by the Entry/Exit System (EES), an automated IT system that registers non-EU nationals each time they cross the external borders of participating European countries. The EES applies if you’re a non-EU citizen traveling to an EES country for a short stay of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
