Built between 1907 and 1908 by architects Marcell Komor and Dezső Jakab in the Secession style, it wraps a Y-shaped, glass-roofed pedestrian arcade through its interior, a covered passage lined with shops and topped by a stained-glass eagle that gives the palace its name. Step inside even briefly; the quality of the ironwork and the light filtering through the roof are worth the detour.

Piața Unirii (Union Square) is the natural gathering point of the city and the best place to orient yourself on arrival. The square is framed by restored Secession and Baroque facades that give it a cohesion rare even in well-preserved Central European cities. The mechanism rotates the sphere on a 28-day cycle to display the current lunar phase. It still works today, which makes the church genuinely unique in Europe. The building itself is a late Baroque Orthodox cathedral, built between 1784 and 1790, with a richly decorated interior.

Oradea City Hall & Tower (Primăria Oradea) offers one of the best elevated views over the city's roofscape. The tower attached to the neoclassical city hall building is open to visitors, and climbing it rewards you with a panorama that makes the density of Oradea's Art Nouveau and Baroque architecture immediately legible. It's a practical first stop if you want to get your bearings before exploring on foot.

Casa Darvas–La Roche (Art Nouveau Museum) is a lovingly restored villa that doubles as the city's dedicated showcase for the Art Nouveau movement.
