Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Strasse is the most complete surviving stretch of the Wall's full border strip, watchtower, death strip, and all. The documentation centre alongside it traces individual stories of escape attempts and loss with real care.

Urban icons

Reichstag Building is the seat of the German parliament and one of the few government buildings in the world where you can walk across the roof for free. Tiergarten Park is a 210-hectare urban forest running through the heart of the city, connecting the Brandenburg Gate in the east to Charlottenburg in the west. The Victory Column at its centre is climbable and gives a different perspective on the park's surprising scale.
