Old Market Square (Stary Rynek) is the social and architectural centrepiece of Poznań. At noon, mechanical goats emerge from the town hall tower and butt heads twelve times, a tradition that draws a small crowd every single day.

Poznań Town Hall (Ratusz) anchors the square with one of the finest Renaissance facades in Central Europe. The building was redesigned in the 16th century by Italian architect Giovanni Battista di Quadro, producing a three-tiered loggia with elaborate stonework that still looks quietly extraordinary.
