Natural spaces

Westfalenpark is Dortmund's largest and most popular green space, stretching across 70 hectares in the south of the city. Rose gardens, open lawns, a miniature railway, and a network of walking paths make it a genuinely versatile destination in any season. It hosted the Federal Garden Show twice, and that heritage is still visible in the careful landscaping throughout.

Florianturm (Florian Tower) rises 208 metres above Westfalenpark and offers one of the best elevated views in the Ruhr region. Hohensyburg Castle Ruins & Vincke Tower

Perched on a wooded ridge above the Ruhr and Lenne rivers at the southern edge of the city, the Hohensyburg Castle Ruins offer a sharp contrast to Dortmund's urban character. The Vincke Tower, a nineteenth-century monument built on the old fortification walls, can be climbed for views over the river valley below.
